He married Aldythe Bessie Bren on September 7, 1957 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Hopkins (Hennepin), MN. They had 5 children: Deborah Sue, Steven Anthony, Sharon Ann, Joyce Lynn, and Kristen Mary.

Survived by wife Aldythe; daughters, Debbie (Pat) Ferguson, Sharon Schmidt, Joyce Schmidt and Tom Simon, Kris Schmidt; son Steve Schmidt and Jackie Murphy; grandchildren, Jason and Kaitlyn; 3 sisters; 8 brothers; mother-in-law, Bessie Bren; nieces and nephews. Services Friday 11 am at Washburn McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins. Interment National.
