DEXTER, Mo. — Bill Silliman, 76, son of the late William Ray and Agnes Martha Harris Silliman, was born Jan. 3, 1933, at Essex, Mo. He departed this life Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his home.


Mr. Silliman was of the Baptist belief, a retired farmer, businessman, a board member of Chalk Bluff Cemetery, on the Ozark Border Electric Co-Operative Board of Directors 15 years and a member of Dexter Elks Lodge 2439.


He was united in marriage to Violet Norman Oct. 25, 1952, at Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home near Dexter.


Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Randy Len Silliman of Powe, Mo., Darrell Ray Silliman of Oakland, Tenn., Dr. W. Ray Silliman of Jackson: a daughter, Karen Dawson of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Betty Gene Myers of Arnold, Mo., Beverly Durham of St. Louis, Verttle Lee Adams and Peggy Bollinger of Dexter; eight grandchildren, Heath Silliman, Cade Silliman, Chad Silliman, Tracy Botsch, Jessica Hylton, Carsen Drew Silliman, Emma Silliman and Billy Dawson; and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.W. Silliman.


Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Dexter.


The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert, Dr. Steve Easterwood and Bradley Botsch officiating. Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.


Memorials may be made to the 18 Fore Life, Stoddard County Children's Home or Legacy Hospice. Envelopes will be made available by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
