Levi Nobles is credited with the founding of the town of Kemp, Kaufman Co. Texas, naming the town in honor of his mother. The town officially became Kemp on 27 May 1851 when it received a post office and Levi was appointed Postmaster. Levi is the son of Stephen Noble and Sarah Kemp. He married Jane Steen 14 Jan. 1816, and after her death, he married Elizabeth Hittson Hanna. Levi and Jane are buried in this cemetery.

Husband of Jane Steen and 2nd husband of Elizabeth LaFavre Hittson Hanna. Elizabeth married 3rd husband William Russell on 3 Jan 1866 in Kaufman County. This is why I think Levi died in 1865
