WEBSTER CITY-Verne D. Neese, 84, died Thursday, July 30, 1998 at his home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Faith United Methodist church with the Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. tonight and at the church prior to the service at Foster Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #191 of Webster City.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; son, Donald Neese of Cedar Falls; daughter Janice Farley of Fullerton, Calif.; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and sister, Madge McCoskey of Cedar Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Doris and Ina; his parents, Carl and Mabel (Wilson) Neese; daughter, Darlene Neese; and brother, Wayne Neese.
Verne Donald Neese was born Dec. 4, 1913 in Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1931. In 1931, he married Doris Ann Miller in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City, where he was employed at Brin's Furniture. During World War II, he served with the U. S. Army 750th Field Artillery in the Pacific Theatre of Action. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City and Brin's Furniture. Doris Neese died in 1952. In 1953, he married Ina Marie Winter in Albert Lea, Minn. The couple resided in Webster City and he continued with Brin's. He later started Verne's Floor Service. Ina Neese died March 19, 1984. In 1986, he married Ruth Farnham Passwaters Meyer in Nashua and they resided in Webster City.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Faith Triple L group, American Legion Post #191, Webster City Moose Lodge #735, and Farm Bureau.
