The family worked in the mines of Cornwall and then worked in mining operations all around the world.
On the 7th day of June, 1896, he was united in marriage to Bessie Shadford, and to them, six sons were born, two in England, William and Frank, and four in Morenci Arizona, Thomas, Clarence, Milton and Nelson. Clarence died at the age of 8 months at Morenci.
William came to Arizona territory in 1898 working for the North Dominion Copper Mining and Development Company. He was an officer of the company. This later became the Detroit Copper Company and then Phelps - Dodge. The family joined him in 1902 and they lived through the uprising of 1903 , hidden away by a neighbor in a excavation cave behind the neighbors house.
His son, Thomas was born in 1906, followed by Clarence in 1907, Paul Milton in 1909 and Nelson in 1913.
About 1920, the family moved to North Whittier Heights, where they owned a Walnut Grove. William worked for the Whittier Extension Mutual Water District where they laid the water lines for what later became Hacienda Heights. His son Thomas followed him to work at the water company and led the company as the Vallecito Water Company.
His years of working in the Copper mines caught up to him as his health started to decline in 1938, and on the 8th of June, 1939, he passed peacefully away, surrounded by family members.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, five sons, seven grandchildren, his brother John Taylor of Puente, and two sisters in England.
