Tim Dennee (see sources below) writes, "Born VA or MD. Quartermaster Dept employee. Resident of Fairfax Co., VA, or the Eastern Shore of MD before employment. Died 11/19/1863 at Dupuy Hospital. First buried 11/20/1863" in grave 10 at Giesboro Cemetery, which served the Giesboro cavalry depot and Camp Stoneman in Washington, DC. Giesboro Cemetery "was possibly attached to an earlier family cemetery and was used for the burial of Quartermaster Department laborers from October 1863 until November 1865. African-American burials there were re-interred in Section 27 of Arlington Cemetery in 1866."
Anderson's remains were transferred to Arlington on August 16, 1866, and placed in a grave originally numbered 17-24-6-C. He or she rests in section 27, a part of of Arlington originally set aside for African Americans.
