Jennie Viola Pierce, 89, Correctionville, formerly of 1116 Highway 20, died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Services were held September 4 in the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside with Harold Burmeister officiated. Burial was in the Oto Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierce, the former Jennie V. Coon, was born October 7, 1893 in Cushing. She married John C. Pierce September 23, 1914, in Sioux City. They lived in the Anthon area and Oto area before moving to Sioux City in 1943. He died November 20, 1973, in Sioux City. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses in Sioux City.
Survivors include one son, Earl of Oto, one daughter, Mrs. Clifton (Wanda) Weber of Cushing, one sister, Iva Hayworth of Sioux City, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Burial: 04 September 1983, Oto Cemetery, Woodbury Co., Iowa
