Bernice Irene Weller Zartman, was born to Harry H. Weller and Marietta Elizabeth Coffing and had seven brothers and sisters, Mildred Marie (Zimmerman), Ruth Elizabeth (Guyer), Helen Leah (Talbott Irvine), Alice Loreen (Nickell), Ida May (Heckathorn), John H. Robert and Harry Joshua Jr.

Bernice married Dewey Marion Zartman, Feb. 22, 1922, in Miami Co., IN. They had three children, Betty Maxine (Yeider), Winsell Dewey, and Jack M. Also, she married Harry Pass, March 1, 1953, in Rochester, IN, and she married Ray Shelton, May 21, 1961, in Rochester, IN.

Bernice lived most of her life in Rochester, IN.

Bernice Shelton, February 8, 1903- March 26, 1986, Bernice I. SHELTON, 83, formerly of 921 Jefferson St., a resident of the Peabody Retirement Home at North Manchester since September, died at 7:40 a.m. today at the Peabody Home. She was born Feb. 8, 1903 near Macy in Miami County to Harry and Marietta Elizabeth Coffing Weller. In 1927, she moved from Macy to Rochester, where she lived most of her life. On Feb. 22, 1922, she was married to Dewey M. Zartman, who died Dec. 11, 1948. On March 1, 1953, she was married to Harry Pass, who died Aug. 3, 1958. On May 21, 1961, she was married to Ray Shelton, who died Nov. 18, 1976. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and Friendship Sunday School class of the church, the ONAWA Club and FDI Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Betty Maxine) Yeider, Coldwater, Mich.; a son, Jack M. Zartman, Titusville, Fla.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a step-son, James L. Shelton, San Jose, Calif.; three sisters, Mildred Zimmerman, Peru, and Helen Irvine, and Loreen Nickell, both of Rochester, and a brother John R. Elida, Ohio. Two sisters, Ruth Guyer and May Heckathorn; a brother, Harry; a son, Wentzel Zartman, who died in 1970, and a granddaughter preceded in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Foster and Good Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Teal Younce officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends man call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
