He was born September 21, 1879 in Czechoslovakia. He was married to Anna Mae Tomasck in 1908 and lived most of his life in Greene County. Mr. Shimek was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local No. 6151, Mather.
He is survived by seven Sons, Robert, Benjamin and Harold of Carmichaels, Albert of Mather, George of Uniontown, Edward of Bald Knob, Ark., and Arthur of Akron, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Vijtonicz and Mrs. Ruth Ella Smith of Carmichaels and Mrs. Josephine Pio of Pittsburgh; 14 grandchildren and two brothers, Charles of Carrollton, O., and Andrew of Sharon, Pa.
