Elizabeth "Eliza" Braun, the daughter of Joseph and Walburga Braun, was born at Ingolstadt, province of Bavaria, Prussia (Germany) March 19, 1842. In her obituary, she is given as the fourth child of sixteen. In her father's will, she is listed as the fourth heir and is named as Elizabeth [Moon]. However, the birth years for her and for Joseph, who is listed before her in the will, don't match this order. It is possible that either one or both of these birth years is incorrect.

Eliza married (1st) Nicholas Jenner in 1860. They had one daughter, Clara, born in 1867. Nicholas died in 1877. Eliza married (2nd) Dr. George E. Moon at Saguache June 8, 1879. They had a daughter Adelpha. Dr. Moon died in 1883. Eliza married (3rd) James Glann Hazard at Saguache June 4, 1885. Though the marriage did not last long and they were divorced in 1891, Eliza retained the Hazard name until her death. Her daughter Clara married James G. Hazard's son, George W. Hazard in 1886.
