Otto Ninmer, 82, of Route 1, Kiel, was found dead in his home Thursday morning. He died of injuries suffered in a car accident Wednesday afternoon near his home. Death was due to a crushed chest and internal hemorrhaging. He had also suffered a severe injury to his lower jaw. Mr. Ninmer had walked home from the scene of the accident, about one mile north of Kiel on a town road. A relative discovered him in an unfilled bathtub in his home where he had apparently collapsed. After the body was found it was also discovered that his car was missing.
The front of the 1957 model four-door automobile was extensively damaged when it went off the road and struck a gravel embankment. The auto apparently went off the east shoulder of County Line Road, crossed to the west ditch at the intersection with the town road, swerved east through the intersection and then went off the south side of the road. The Kiel Police Department notified the County Traffic Police of the accident Thursday morning. The death of Mr. Ninmer was Manitowoc County's first traffic fatality of 1968.

He married Dorothea Wriedt October 27, 1908, in the Town of Schleswig, where he operated a farm. The couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary in October, 1963. Mrs. Ninmer died in December of that year. Mr. Ninmer continued to live on the farm after retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and president of Union Cemetery, Town of Schleswig.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Esther Buvid of Two Rivers; three brothers, Oscar of Kiel, Edwin of Route 1, Kiel and Walter of Sheboygan; and three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Peter's Church with the Rev. John Baumann officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery. 1-24- 1968
