M. STRASSMAN DIES ON SUNDAY
Death Comes at Home of Daughter In Russel
Michael Frederick Strassman, aged 83, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jacob Spettel in the town of Russell. Death was due to the infirmities of old age, and an attack of pneumonia.
The deceased was born Oct. 25, 1847, in Zulgraw, Prussia. At the age of seven years, he came to this country with his parents who lived for a short time in New York, and then moved to this state, settling in Cedar Creek. Here he grew to manhood. He was married Nov. 14, 1870, to Miss Antonie Johanna Zorn, sister of his deceased wife. For a time they lived on a farm north of Rockville. They moved to Sturgeon Bay 31 years ago where they lived for 25 years.
For the past six years, they made their home in the town of Eaton, and for the past four months he and his wife made their home with their daughter in Russell.
Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ferdinand (Emma) Lechler of near here, Mrs. Julius Arbter of Sturgeon Bay; William Strassman of Pigeon Lake; Mrs. Jacob (Clara) Spittell, Russell; and Ben. Strassman, of Sturgeon Bay. One daughter, Mrs. Gustave (Lucy) Karstaedt, died about ten years ago, and a son, John Strassman passed away 34 years ago. No brothers or sisters survive. There are 35 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon, from the Spettel home in Russell, at 1 p.m. and with burial in the Union cemetery at Louis Corners, the
Rev. August Hammond officiating.
