Susan "Grandma" Eddleman died 13 Feb 1893, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. M.N. Heilig, near Springville, and was buried in St. John's Cemetery. She was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was born Susan Hess 15 Oct 1807, in Rowan Co., N.C., moved to Illinois when 13, joined St. John's Church when 15, and married Joseph Eddleman when 20. She had 13 children. She left six sons and two daughters. One son was Thomas Jefferson Eddleman of DuQuoin. She was the last of a family of two brothers and six sisters.
