Fitzgerald enterprise. (Fitzgerald, Ga.) 1895-1912, February 18, 1908, Tuesday
OBITUARY, CHARLES EDWARD TAYLOR When a man has lived the allotted three score years and ten— lived a life of usefulness and been honorable and upright, his departure from this world leaves but the sting of severed association to those with whom he has been closest allied in life, for it is expected that the old will die—tis natural law. But when a young man meets the grim reaper and succumbs—when in the prime of life, a life well started on the road to success, with every indication of its final termination at a point high up, then the sting is felt with keenness, and the hurt is deep. So it is in the case of the death of Mr. Charles Edward Taylor who departed this life Sunday morning at 8:25. Mr. Taylor had been a citizen of Fitzgerald for several years and during that time made many score of friends He made no enemies. In his business dealings he was honest and upright and being an incessant worker had built up a lucrative lumber business here. In his social life he proved himself a true gentleman, courteous and kind. Mr. Taylor had been in more or less feeble health for some time, or since an attack of typhoid fever, but had been about his business as usual until Thursday when he was confined to his rom. About the last thing he did before being taken to his bed was to attend a social gathering of young people -at the home of G. C. Rogers on Wednesday night and while there was taken suddenly with a chill Physicians state that a complication of disease was the cause of death. ~ Mr. Taylor was within a few days of 28 years of age and is survived by a step mother and two sisters, both married, and living at Americus and three half sisters. His two brother in laws, W. M. Andrews and W.S. Andrews of Americus who had been summoned by wire, arrived but a few moments before he expired and took charge of the remains. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church, Pine Level Lodges F. of A. M. and the Elks. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist church, Sunday afternoon, by Rev. S. J. Parish, the pastor. The local lodge of Elks attended in a body and their Exalted Ruler J. I. Campbell conducted their beautiful church service. Pine Level Lodge, F. & A. M. also attended in a body and besides the members of these societies there were many friends on hand to pay their last respect to the departed. At the conclusion of the church service the remains were carried to the undertaking parlors of W. H. Rogers followed .by the Mason's and Elks. From there the body was taken to the A. B. & A. depot and thence to the boyhood home, at Ellaville accompanied by Messrs. Drew W. Paulk, Walter M. Rogers and O. H. Elkins of the Elks Worshipful Master, W, R. Dykes, of the Masons. Interment in the family plot at Ellaville, eighteen miles from Americus.

DEATH OF EDGAR TAYLOR Our town and community received a great
shock on last Monday morning when the 8 o'clock train arrived
bringing the body of Mr. Edgar Taylor, whose death occured at
Fitzgerald on the day before from the effects of Bright's
disease. (Kidney Disease)

An escort of Fitzgerald citizens accompanied the body, which
upon arrival was taken in charge by Masons of this place and
interred in the Ellaville cemetery with usual Masonic honors.

Edgar Taylor was the only son of the late Chas. A. Taylor, born
and reared to manhood near LaCrosse, in this county. Several
years ago he began life at Fitzgerald, engaging in the lumber
business, at which he had met with much success. He was only
29 years of age, rendering it very hard indeed for his
relatives and friends to become reconciled to his death.
