Ruth M. Pearl, 79, of West Frankfort died on November 4, 2001 at Parkview Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tower Heights Cemetery. Mrs. Pearl was born on July 20, 1922 in West Frankfort, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Fisher) Larkin. She was a retired fork lift operator for Shakeproof in Elgin. She married Edward E. Pearl on October 4, 1952. Mrs. Pearl was preceded in death by her first husband, Shelby Pasley, who died on December 21, 1951 in the Orient Mine #1 disaster; her parents; and three brothers, James Larkin, Lee Roy Larkin, and Carl Raymond "Nub" Larkin. She is survived by her husband, Edward, of the home; two daughters, Laura Pasley of West Frankfort and Gloria Jean Hand of Du Quoin; one son, Shelby Pasley, Jr. of Waverly; three step-children, Linda Pearl, Brenda Pearl, and Eddie Pearl; one brother, Jesse Larkin of West Frankfort; three sisters, Viola Renz, Helen Darnell, and Betty Elam, all of West Frankfort; sixteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
