David Lawson, son of James & Della Lawson, was born 27 Oct 1844, & died 10 March 1932, aged 87 years, 4 months, & 14 days. His entire life was spent in Clark & Cumberland counties.
On 4 Dec 1870, he was united in marriage with Julia Owens. To this union were born six children: Ella, Emma, Cora, Bert, Anna & Eva three of the children preceded him in death. Mrs Ella Reed, Anna Yelton & Bert still survive him. Mrs Lawson passed to the land of Eternal Rest on 4 Dec 1882. On 7 Aug 1885 he was united in marriage to Anna Aug. To this union were born four children: Robert of Brooklyn, IA, Jessie Rodebaugh of Casey & Iva Lozier of Arcola, IL, Lloyd having died in infancy. His wife Anna, passed away 16 Sept 1894. He was united in marriage to Mary Jennings on 19 Sept 1918, they taking up their residence in Casey, where they lived until her death, she passing to the Great Beyond 18 May 1926. After the death of his wife his daughter moved in the home, giving him the loving care he so much deserved. He was in failing health for about one year about a week ago he was stricken with brain hemorrage, finally passing to his eternal reward.
He is survived by 2 sons, Bert & Robert, 4 daughters, Ella Reed, Jesse Rodebaugh, Anna Yelton & Iva Lozier & 31 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives & friends.
The son of a pioneer grew to manhood before the advent of railroads, drove a freight team between Terre Haute & the little village of Hazel Dell, helped to subdue the land & build churches & schools, to make a better habitation for generations which followed.
Funeral services were held at Washington Saturday afternoon, Rev Wiley Mathis, of Belleville, IL conducting & the remains were interred in the Washington Cemetery.
