Reverend Frank "Nick" Brister

Funeral services for Reverend Frank "Nick" Brister will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Dry Prong First Assembly of God, Dry Prong, Louisiana, with Reverends Lawrence Craft, Delbert Cates and Danny Garner officiating. Interment will be at Lone Pine Cemetery, Bentley, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

The Reverend Frank Brister passed away on April 4, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren at the age of 88.

Frank was born in the loving home of his parents, George Brister and Della Youngblood Brister on April 25, 1920.

Frank "Paw Paw" Brister served in the Army during the WWII Campaign. After serving his country, Frank worked as a welder on pipelines. He then worked worked for the VA Medical Center for over 30 years, before retiring and continuing his work for the Lord. Frank pastored at several Assembly of Gods Churches in Jonesville, Montgomery, and Alexandria. His love of the Lord was great and he always took pride in boasting of being able to marry all 17 of his beloved children.

Besides being owner of Brister's Trailor Park, Paw Paw was an avid farmer, cattleman, and fisherman. But his greatest pleasure was serving the Lord and spending time with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, George and Della Brister; his great great grandchild, Carey Williams; his grandchild, Charles Brister, Jr.; his son, Frank Robert Brister; his brothers and sisters, Rosie Jones, Mary Wallace, Ida Hanna, Jana Ratley, Rubie Morris and Tom Brister.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Estelle Beavers Brister; two sons, Charles Brister and his wife Adel, Jack Brister and his wife Pat; two daughters, Betty Ritchie and husband Marvin, Shirley Canoe and husband Gary; seventeen grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Keith Brister, Jeremy Fletcher, Tim Brister, Randy Canoe, Brian Canoe, Billy Look, Frankie Brister and Durant Ritchie.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Dry Prong Assembly of God, Dry Prong, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
