Al Gibson, a well-known resident of Mt. Vernon and sheepherder, died suddenly at his ranch of Beech Creek last Friday. Heart trouble was given as the cause. The day before his death he was riding at the Thiessen place, apparently in the best of health.

The deceased was born near The Dalles, coming to Mt. Vernon at the age of 18. He was 69 years of age on the 18th of January. During several of the Whiskey Gulch celebrations, Mr. Gibson was in charge of the stables.

Two sisters and two brothers survive.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Vernon Wednesday, February 23. Interment in Fletcher's cemetery. The Driskill Mortuary of John Day was in charge of funeral arrangements.
