Aileen McClenny Harvey Scruggs, 93, died Sunday evening, Feb. 25, 1999 in the Appomattox Heathcare Center. Twice widowed, her first husband was the late Edward N. Harvey and her second husband was the late Isaac Walker Scruggs.
Born in Pulaski Co., Feb. 6, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Edward E. and Eleanor Harris McClenny. She was a member of Elon Baptist Church, The Order of the Eastern Star No. 10, a graduate of State Teachers College, now Longwood, and was a retired school teacher, teaching in the Prince Edward and Appomattox County Public School systems.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Marie S. Harvey, granddaughter, Melissa Harvey, both of Madisonville; a step-daughter, Cheryl S. Hiteshew, Merritt Island, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Mamie Anderws McClenny, Rice; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Scruggs was preceded in death by her son, Wilson N. Harvey, two brothers, Robert F. McClenny, Sr. and Kenneth L. McClenny, and her sister, Elizabeth McClenny Miller.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 2, at Elon Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Tyree. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elon Baptist Church Youth Ministries or the charity of your choice.
Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
