WENATCHEE - Eunice L. Fitch, 85, Wenatchee, died Wednesday evening, April 13, 1994, in Colonial Vista Convalescent Center.

She was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Malaga, to Elliot and Mary (Parsons) Balch. She grew up on the family fruit ranch on the hill above Three Lakes. She attended school in Malaga and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1925. She attended Bellingham Normal School for a year and began teaching for a year in Kake, Alaska, in 1926.

She married Merlin F. Fitch on Aug. 28, 1927, in Anchorage, Alaska. She then taught four years at the Eklutna Industrial School, a school for Alaskan natives. She and her family moved back to Washington state in 1934, first to Riverton and then to the Wenatchee Valley in 1935. The family moved to Okanogan and returned to Wenatchee in 1942. They moved to Sequim in 1974. Her husband preceded her in death in 1980, after which she returned to Wenatchee.

Mrs. Fitch was a member of the Central Christian Church; Native Daughters of Washington Territorial Pioneers; East Wenatchee Garden Club; Malaga Homemakers Club; and Astral Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Robert E., Kent, and John S., Nordland; her brother, Lewis Balch, Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother in 1993.
