WWII Veteran, June 1945 to January 5, 1947, U.S. Army, PFC , served with HQ Company, 63rd Regiment of the 6th Division. Occupation duty at Camp Hillenmeyer, Kumsan, Korea.
Russell Claude Beckwith died Monday, March 3, 2003, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse following an illness. He was 76.
The son of the late Claud S. and Lena Swingle Beckwith, he was born in Waymart. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was employed as a carpenter for Herve Desrochers, Fayetteville, NY, before retiring.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Frances Luce; a son, Russell of North Syracuse; four daughters, Janet DeGroat of Hawley, PA, Yvonne Perry of Champlain, Linda Daino of Liverpool and Anne Tuttle of Cicero; a brother, Nelson of Cherry Ridge; a sister, Florence Welles of Honesdale, PA; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Lloyd, and one sister, Edna Gilhooley.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 8 at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA officiated by the Rev. Leo Mancini, pastor of the Waymart First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Canaan Corners Cemetery.
