Dorothy Hieronymus of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at a local care facility.

She was born January 27, 1915, in Newton Falls, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bruce and Maybelle Voris. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Anglin; brothers, Donald, her twin, and Calvin Voris; and sisters, Lucy and Anna Voris. In 2005 she was preceded in death by her second husband of 54 years, Major Paul Hieronymus.

She is survived by a son Donald L. Anglin and his wife, Barbara, of Honolulu, Hawaii; a devoted grandson, William H. Anglin IV of Charlottesville, Virginia; a grandson, Paul W. Anglin of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dorothy attended Towson College in Laurel, Maryland, after her first husband, William, died in 1939, she and her son, Donald, moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She went to work for the daily Arizona Republic newspaper where she met and married Paul Hieronymus. They worked together at the Arizona Republic until she retired in 1977. After retiring, they moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where her son, Donald, and his family lived.

In retirement, Dorothy continued to be active by volunteering with her husband, Paul, at Jefferson Area Board of the Aging and Meals on Wheels.

Dorothy will be remembered in many ways, but especially for her desire to help others and her honesty.

The family thanks the caring staff at The Laurels for their constant, faithful attention to Mrs. Hieronymus.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday, April 24, 2009, at Holly Memorial Gardens.
