Edna Gilhooley, Waymart, died Tuesday, July 19, 1994, in MarionCommunity Hospital, Carbondale, after an illness. She was the widow of James Gilhooley, who died in 1975.
Born in Waymart, daughter of the late Claud and Lena Swingle Beckwith, she resided in Waymart for most of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Church Waymart, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Waymart Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary and the Waymart Golden Years Group. She graduated in 1934 from Waymart High School and had been employed for many years by the Mabel Ryan Nursing Home, Canaan Twp.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Smith, Lititz, and Patricia Webb, Avoca; a son Nelson Beckwith, Cherry Ridge; a sister, Florence Welles, Honesdale; three brothers, Howard, Lynnwood, Wash., Lloyd, Asheville, NC.; and Russell, North Syracuse, NY.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday from the Herbert E. Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Waymart. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery.
