CALIPATRIA: Funeral services are to be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel, Brawley, for Mrs. B. M. (Leonia) Baxter, 80, of Route One, Calipatria, who farmed with her husband for the past 49 years in the Northend of Imperial Co. before his death.
Rev. Vernon Storey, pastor of the Calipatria Community church, will officiate with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Mrs. Bzxter, in ill health the past four months following a stroke, died Monday afternoon in Pioneers Memorial Hospital. Her late husband, B. M. (Boyd) Baxter, died Dec. 9.
She was born Oct 3 1890 in Missouri and was married Feb. 16 1913, in Hickory County, MO. The couple moved here from that state in 1922. She had been active in affairs of the Calipatria Community Church for many years.
Surviving are three sons, Donald (Brawley), Marvin (Calipatria) and Joe (Galt); five daughters: Mrs. Pegg Layne (Calipatria), Mrs. Geneva Pauley (Brawley) Mrs. Laveda Thetford (Niland), Mrs. Verlie Miller (Highland) and Mrs. Nadine Bone (Norwalk); 37 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and five sisters and three brothers residing in Missouri.
