OBITUARY :
A PIONEER'S DEATH - The Spirit Of William Shockey Of Auglaize Township, Wings Its Flight

SHOCKEY, an octogenarian, and one of the oldest pioneers of the county, died last night at his home about three miles south of Westminster, he has, been an invalid for years, and for the last six months he suffered acutely. He had stomach trouble, and a polypus in the nose did its part toward ending the old gentleman's life. Mr Shockey was one the oldest settlers, having purchased, section 31 in Auglaize township in the year 1833. He was well to do in this world's goods, for disposition of which he left a will. He had been a widower about three years, and leaves eight children, most of whom are married. Within the last year, the family figured in court several times, an application for a guardian for the deceased having been twice filed. The application was granted, and a guardian appointed about a week ago.

Funernal services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the late home of the deceased. Burial in the Shockey Cemetery nearby.
