Nelle Nelson of Memphis, a teacher in the Shelby County school system for 49 years, died of heart disease Thursday at Methodist Hospital South. She was 93. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home Union Chapel with burial in Stephenson Chapel Cemetery. She was past president of Alpha Delta Kappa teachers honorary sorority. Mrs. Nelson was organist at Stephenson Chapel Methodist Church for 35 years, a charter member of Kate Trader Barrow Book Club and Country View Garden Club, and a member of Oakwood Garden Club. She was also a 4-H Club leader for 35 years and taught handicrafts for 10 years in the club's summer camps. She graduated from Memphis State University. Mrs. Nelson, the widow of S. Roy Nelson, leaves several nieces and nephews. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Whitehaven United Methodist Church. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 4/1/1994)
