He died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 5, 1908, in Erath County. He married Jane Burks on July 28, 1928, in Stephenville. She died Dec. 12, 1966. He was selected by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt as one of the original farmers to be included in "The Project." He farmed in this area for 55 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ropesville.
Survivors include three daughters, Pat Spinks of Bakersfield, Calif., Emma Mahaney of Lubbock and Lena Wood of Plano; a son, Chris of Lubbock; two sisters, Lillian Mingus of Irving and Christine Ogle of Hico; a brother, Leonard of Stephenville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
