It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear sister, auntie and friend, Noemi Chiesa passed away peacefully at the Bow View Manor, on Wednesday May 16, 2007, at the age of 95 years.

Noemi was born in Michel, BC, on July 18, 1911, and moved to Beaver Mines with her family at the age of five. As a young girl she worked in Pincher Creek and then moved to Calgary in 1943 where she resided until her passing. Noemi was well known for her love of travelling, home cooked meals, baking, sewing, painting, paper tole and her great sense of humour. Noemi's deep faith was an inspiration to all who knew her; she was seventy-five year member of the CWL and a fifty year member of Secular Franciscan (Third Order).

Noemi is survived by her sister Norma Bird of Pincher Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Rosa Lant, Mary Evanation, Assunta Barclay; and brother Alfie Chiesa.

Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church on Saturday May 19, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. In living memory of Noemi Chiesa, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Crowfoot Chapel.

From obituary published in the Calgary Herald on 5/19/2007.
