Obituary of the patriach of the Samain family, published in the Ionia Standard on Friday, February 19, 1892:
William Samain and wife went to Portland to attend the funeral of his father, who died on Thursday morning, at the age of 81 years.
He was an old resident of Portland and was highly respected.
Death was the result of la grippe.
The funeral was attended at 2 pm on Saturday, from the M. E. church at Portland.
