Funeral services for Mrs W A James held Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs Ruth Hazard James of Washington were held in Georgetown Wednesday at Prince George Winyah Protestant Episcopal Church.

Officiating was the rector the Rev E Irwin Hulbert. Burial was in the churchyard directed by Mayer Funeral Home.

Mrs James died Sunday in a Washington hospital after an illness of some time. A native of Georgetown she was a daughter of the late Benjamin I and Sarah Freeman Hazard. She was educated in the old Winyah Indigo Society School and was graduated from Converse College. She served as organist of Prince George Church for some years prior to moving to Florida a number of years ago. Since 1923 she had made her home in Washington. Her husband died in 1923.

Surviving are seven nieces Miss Paula Hazard, Mrs Joseph A Doyle,and Mrs. George Doyle of Georgetown; Mrs Edward Diggs of Bronxville NY Mrs James Sommerville of Washington, Mrs. Earl Harding of Albion NY and Miss Lucille Hazard of Asheville NC; and three nephews J I Hazard Jr of Georgetown Arthur Hazard of Augusta and Carl Hazard of Atlanta.
