Born in Lantz, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence and Grace (Brown) Ambrose.
Mr. Ambrose was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. He recently retired from the Americana Souvenir store in Gettysburg where he worked for many years.
He loved to ride his motorcycle, work in his yard, and help other people in any way he could.
He was the husband of Katherine L. (Brewer) Ambrose of Gettsyburg, to whom he was married for 57 years and surviving, in addition to her, are four children, Carolyn D. Wagaman and husband Robert F., of Gettysburg, Ira S. Ambrose and wife Pamela S., of Bendersville, Kathy D. Lowe and husband Todd, of Gettysburg and Brian E. Ambrose and wife Lorraine K., of Orrtanna; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas Wagaman, Jessica Wagaman, Faith Ambrose, Katarina Ambrose, Kiersten Ambrose, Ira Ambrose, Jeffrey Gift, Caitlyn Lowe, Colin Lowe, Samuel Ambrose and Rachael Ambrose; one sister, Mary Grace Edwards, of Westminster, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Ambrose, Richard Ambrose, Earl Ambrose and Wesley Ambrose.
