Funeral Service for Dora LaCroix, 72 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 2:0 P.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with the Rev. Vern Donnell and Rev. Bob Beasley officiating. Organist will be Billy Kohl with Special music by Joe & Kathy White, and Butch Felix. Pallbearers will be Duane Derby, Nicky Woods, Floyd DeMarrias, Randy LaBelle, Joe LaCroix Jr., Floyd Nelson, Jim Peterson, Vine Marks, Jr., Spencer LaCroix Sr., and Justin LaCroix. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dora's Grandchildren, Bernice Johnson, Delia Welch, Bertha Greeley, Robin LaCroix, Kim Amos, Cheryl Spider, Myrna Thompson, Mona Augustine, LaVonne Ortley, and Bobbi DuMarce. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be an all night wake on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD. Dora was born on May 28, 1936 in Veblen, SD to Spencer and Lucy (DuMarce) LaCroix. She grew up and attended Wahpeton Indian School. After her education she returned to the Veblen area and eventually moved to Sisseton, where she raised her children. She enjoyed reading, fixing puzzles, and being with her grandchildren and family. She entered the Tekakwitha Living Center in January 2009. Dora passed away suddenly on March 16, 2009 at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD. Dora is survived by four children, Joe and Barbara LaCroix of Sisseton, SD, Robert and Robin LaCroix of Sisseton, SD, Billy LaCroix of Watertown, and Linnette LaCroix of Sisseton, SD. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
