Martha E. Kerby, daughter of John and Elizabeth Kerby of Davis County, Iowa, was born March 4, 1864 and grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Coatsville, MO. In her early youth she gave her life to Christ and maintained that faith until death.
At the age of 20 years she was united in marriage to Albert McCullough of Coatsville, Mo., and to this union 7 children were born: George W. McCullough, Wilcox, Nebr.; Ettie E. Archibald, Coatsville, Mo.; Arthur McCullough, Ft. Worth, Tex.; Elsie M. Horn, Numa, Iowa; Frank E. McCullough, Boonville, Iowa; John A McCullough, Raymond, S. D.; Arminta B. Pedrick, Moulton, 22 grand children and 23 great-grand children, which she leaves to mourn her departure, besides a host of relatives and friends.
She departed this life Nov. 30, 1949 at the age of 85;years 8 months and 26 days to be with'her Maker. She passed away after a lingering illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Horn, near Numa.
Funeral services were conducted at the Coatsville Baptist Church, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by the Rev. Ben Bradbury of Corning, IA. She-was laid to rest beside her loving companion in the Coatsville cemetery.
The sun and moon are shining
On a lone and silent grave.
Beneath lies one we dearly loved
A life lived true and brave
Friends may think we have forgotten
When at times they see us smile
Little do they know the heartache
That our smiles hide all the while.
