A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Chapel of Ray Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Jessup officiating. Inurnment will be held at 4 p.m. at Buffalo Cemetery in Sandy Ridge.
Mrs. Joyce was born on May 5, 1923, in Stokes County, to the late Charlie Otis Smith and the late Mattie Poore Smith. She had retired from Washington Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan since 1955.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willard Smith and Kenneth Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Maynard Dixon Joyce of the home; a son, Dickie Joyce of Stoneville; a daughter, Nancy Miller and husband, Clyde of Williamsport, Md.; a sister, Inice Reynolds of Patrick Springs, Va.; a brother, Danny Smith of Madison; three grandchildren, Mary Margaret "Maggie" McDaid of Williamsport, Md., Joshua Aidan McDaid of Cockeysville, Md., and Jennifer McDaid Lopp of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends following the service until 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
