Dies yesterday at the age of 79 following a long illness. Funeral to be Friday.

A resident of Hartington vicinity for 55 years, Mrs. Charles Lanphear, age 79 died yesterday morning, February, 17, at 8 o'clock.

Mrs Lanphear succumed at the home of her daughter, Roy Barns and family, four and a half miles east of Hartington, with whom she had been making her home. She had been in ill-health, and complications of advanced years caused her death.

DAUGHTER OF PIONEERS
Emeline Winterringer was born October 9, 1857, at Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Winterringer, who were among the first settlers in Cedar County. At the age of 21 she was united in marriage to Charles Lanphear at Otto, Iowa. The young couple moved to the Hartington vicinity in 1882 locating a farm southeast of Hartington. Her parents came to Cedar County before that time. Mrs Lanphear has been making her home with her children.

Five children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Lanphear, all of whom are living and are: Mrs. Wm. Kuhl, Sylvia of near Laurel; Mrs. Roy Barns, Ethal of near Hartington; Mrs. Herman Sommerfeldt, Ida of near Hartington; Bert Lanphear of Hartington; and Harry of Wynot.

She is survived by one sister, Eldora Cory of Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Roy Barns farm home east of Hartington and at 2:30 o'clock from the First Congregational Church with the Rev. James A McKeeman in charge.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Emiline Lanphear, a resident of Cedar county for the past 55 years, last Friday afternoon. Brief rites were conducted by Rev. J.A. McKeeman, pastor of the Congregational church. Burial was held in the pubic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Christensen, Walter Dresden, H.L. Heedum, Charles Connely, Martin Nelson and Harvey Edwards.
Mrs. Lanphear died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Barnes, last Wednesday morning at the advanced age of 79 years. She had been in poor health for some time and complications of old age caused her death.

Emaline Winterringer was born Oct. 8, 1857, at Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winterringer. A year after her birth, the family moved to Smithland, Woodbury county, Iowa, where Emaline grew to young womanhood. She married to Charlies Lanphear on August 18, 1878, in a creemony performed in Otto, Iowa.

After their marriage the young couple lived in Iowa for several years and then moved to Nebraska in 1882, making the trip in company with her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Winterringer. The couple settled on the east edge of Hartington and suffered many hardships during their residence here.

Six children, one of whom died in infancy, were born to the couple. Those living include Bert of Hartinton, Harry of Wynot, Mrs. Will Kuhl of near Laurel, Mrs. Herman Sommerfield of near Hartington. Mr. Lanphear died in 1928. One sister Mrs. Eldora Cory, of Los Angles, California is also among the survivors.
