Landin Bergstedt, 86 of Savage died at the Sidney Health Center, Extended Care Facility, Thursday, April 17, 1997.
Funeral services were at 10a.m., Monday April 21 at the United Church of Christ in Savage with Pastor Perry Blanchard officiating.
Landin Clifford Bergstedt was born October 13, 1910 in Fairmont, Minn., while his father was proving up on a homestead in the Midway Community of eastern Montana near Savage. His parents were Carl and Anna Bergstedt. He grew up on the Montana homestead and attended rural schools. He graduated with the first 12 year high school graduating class of 1929. He remained on the homestead and worked campaigns at Holly Sugar. On May 15, 1943, he was united in marriage to Marian Stallman of Sidney. They made their home on the Bergstedt family homestead. In the summers of 1960 and 1961, he attended the School for the Blind in Bozeman, He never let his eyesight keep him from staying active on the farm. His wife, Marian, died in February in 1989 and he remained on the farm until November of 1993, when he entered Richland Homes in Sidney.
He loved to read and kept very up to date on current events. Publiations included Newsweek, Money and the Farm Journal were some of his favorites. He knew what was happening in the world, the United States and his community. He loved to visit and especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Savage.
Survivors include two sons, Gene of Miles City, and Clifford and his wife, Linda Bergstedt, of Savage; a sister Mrs. Bob (Ida)Seeve of Savage; four grandsons, Lee, Kelly, Loren, Joel and his fiance, Gail Adams; and one great grandchild and numerous neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marian and one brother and one sister.
