Patricia C. Owens, age 89 of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday July 30, 2016. She was born March 17, 1927 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania the daughter of Robert and Anna (Poppelreiter) Everly. She married Rex G. Owens Sr. on April 29, 1944 in Detroit and they made their home in Dearborn for many years. Pat worked at Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum for over 16 years as a tour guide. Following their retirement in 1981, Pat and Rex moved to the Big Rapids area to make their home.

Pat is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Big Rapids where she enjoyed singing in the choir; she had been active in the Mecosta County RSVP and taught several classes at Ferris State University.

Pat is survived by her two daughters, Susan Owens of Grand Rapids, Sheila (Rick) Shetter of West Minster, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Susan R. Owens of Big Rapids; nine grandchildren, Erika, Kristen, Karl, Tera, Erin, David, Isaac, Kati, Hannah; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dee Peron, Alda Ernst, Nancy (George) Cini and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Rex G. Owens Sr. on June 13, 1994, son, Rex G. Owens Jr. in 2005, infant son, Robert Owens, two brothers, Paul Kirchner, Ronald Kirchner and three sisters, Norma Bavol, Bernice Valimaki and Anna Mae Powell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Burt officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 2nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 time of sharing. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be at Crapo Cemetery in Green Township, Paris, MI.
