Eugene Broxson, Sr. was born on November 30, 1919 to George Thomas Broxson and Emma Stamps Broxson at Bancroft, LA. During his lifetime, he lived in DeQuincy, LA, Merryville, LA, McComb, MS, and Plaquemine, LA. He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. After returning home, he married Ira Bea Shroll in 1943. He retired as a construction engineer after 29 years with Shell Oil Company. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. And in his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

He passed away on Jan. 7, 1992 in Merryville, LA at the age of 72. His funeral service was held at the First United Pentecostal Church on Jan. 8, 1992 with Pastors T. D. Cardwell, Wayne Cardwell, and Herbert Phillips officiating. He was buried at Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Ira Bea Shroll Broxson, of Merryville, LA, his son, Eugene Broxson, Jr. of Bancroft, LA, his daughter, Sondra Hyman of Metairie, LA, four sisters: Grace Wood and Ludie Dunham, both of DeQuincy, Estelle Allen of Beaumont, TX, and Minnie Welch of Sulphur, LA, three grandsons and one granddaughter.
