Gwendolyn W. Hendrix of Roscoe, a former owner of the Hendrix Motel and Reynolds House Inn in Roscoe and longtime resident of the area, died November 23, 1999 at home. She was 79. The daughter of the late John D. and Clara M. Schalies Wilkens, she was born May 27, 1920 in Houston, Texas.

Gwen was a member of the United Church of Roscoe, the Couples Club, and the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club; a charter member and past president of the Roscoe NY O&W Railway Association, Inc. Survivors include her sons, Roy and his wife, Julie of Pine Island, FL., John and his wife, Patti of Roscoe, NY and Lonnie and his wife, Izzy of Roscoe, NY.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; and several great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Royal Felix "Buddy" Hendrix.

Funeral services were at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY The Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial in the Bon Aire Cemetery.
