[Special to The Indianapolis News.]
SULLIVAN, Ind., November 26. -Capt. Jesse Haddon, one of the wealthiest farmers and live stock breeders of the county, died to-day at his home in Haddon township, after a short illness of pneumonia. He was sixty-nine years old, and was born and reared in this county. He served throughout the war of the rebellion in an Indiana regiment, and was promoted to a captaincy before the close of the war. He was prominent in Republican political circles, and was the Republican candidate for joint Senator of the counties of Sullivan and Knox at the recent election. He was peculiar in some respects, one of which was that he always wore a hat with a fifteen-inch brim, made of the finest material, on special order. He always carried a large revolver, which was worn in a holster attached to a belt. Mr. Haddon was a member of the Carlisle Lodge of Odd Fellows, and is survived by a widow and one child.
