—Virgie Rigney Saunders, 93, of 323 Carriage Hill Drive, Pulaski died Tuesday evening, June 8, 1999 in Pulaski Community Hospital.

Born July 28, 1905 in Delton, Virginia she was the daughter of the late James J. Rigney and Susan Boothe Rigney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice David 'Pete' Saunders and ten brothers and sisters.

Virgie was a member of the First Christian Church in Pulaski over 76 years.

She is survived by two sisters, Ida R. Akers of Delton and Georgia Nichols of Mt. Airy, N.C. Also survived by many nieces and nephews; two special devoted friends, Violet Akers and Barbara Sutphin and many other dear friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 1999 at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime Thursday after 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Those who wish to make memorial contributions may send them to the First Christian Church in Pulaski.
