Mrs. Emma Gartzke, 104, a resident of Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, since 1971, died there Friday evening.
The former Emma Kono was born in Cleveland on Sept, 22, 1879, daughter of John and Louise Schroeder Kono. She attended Cleveland grade school. She married Julius Gartzke on Dec. 8, 1896, at Cleveland. He died December 30, 1960. Mrs. Gartzke was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein and the Germania Insurance Group of Chilton.
Survivors are four sons, Elmer and Walter, both of New Holstein; Albert of Kiel and Harry of Sheboygan Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Oliver (Lucille) Schwartz of Howards Grove; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
