Joe Johnson Sr. of Arvonia, Virginia, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Evie Miller Johnson; eight sons, Bill Johnson and his wife, Laura, Richard Johnson and his wife, LaMonica, Joe Johnson Jr. and his wife, Zelda, and David Johnson and his wife, Yvonne, all of Buckingham, Virginia, Glenn Johnson and his wife, Edith, of Scottsville, Virginia, Gary Johnson and his wife, Janet, of Fluvanna, Virginia, Steve Johnson and his wife, Tina, of Nelson, Virginia, and Stacy Johnson and his wife, Pamela, of Dillwyn, Virginia; three daughters, Carolyn Opie and her husband, William, of New Canton, Virginia, Belinda Tracy of Buckingham, Virginia, and Angela Agee and her husband, George, of Dillwyn, Virginia; special niece, Sydney Banks; three sisters, Virginia Campbell, Margaret Woodson, and Emma Bowles; a brother, Tom Johnson; 26 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was conducted Thursday, May 14, 2009, at The Frances Redwood Center, Route 15, Arvonia, Virginia, with interment at Highway of Faith Holiness Church Cemetery. Pastor Virginia Agee officiated.
The family received friends at the Colbert Funeral Home in Bremo Bluff, Virginia, Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
