Mary Battistello
Mary Battistello, 80, of Pella died Friday, June 24, 1994, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born July 26, 1913, in Centerville, the daughter of Antonio and Catherina (Speziapietra) Buttel.
She married John J. Battistello Nov. 9, 1935. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1955.
Survivors include a son, John (Jack) Battistello and his wife, Mary, of Pella; a daughter, Marilyn (Chi Chi) Hamre of Pella; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Howard R. Anderson of Pella.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; an infant sister; a brother, Peter Buttel; and two sisters, Candida O. (Connie) Anderson and Marguerite Craver.
She and her husband moved to Pella in 1936 and resided on a farm. She was employed at the Rolscreen Company.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella. The committal service will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. There was a visitation Monday and a wake service Monday evening.
Memorials may be designated for the American Diabetes Association.
