Died.

At the home of his parents in this city, on Monday morning August 12, 1895, Elbert Henry Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arnold.

Elbert was born in Scotland county, Missouri, October 6, 1876. He came with his parents to Kansas when seven years old, and for a number of years they have resided in Geuda Springs, where Elbert was well known as a bright and promising young man. He was sick about two weeks, and especially during the last week he suffered very much. He was a probationer in the Methodist church, having been converted during the meeting last winter.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday at 10 o'clock. The high esteem in which the young man was held, and the sympathy of the townspeople for the bereaved family, found expression in the very large attendance, the auditorium and lecture room of the church being crowded. Rev. Hancher preached from the text "This day I am going the way of all the earth." -Joshua, 23:14. He said death is met by men and women in a multitude of forms, but in only two conditions, viz; prepared and unprepared. He spoke feelingly of the life and character of Elbert, but the burden of the discourse was directed to the living, as it should be. It was really a strong sermon. The impromptu choir sang some very beautiful music.

All that was mortal of Elbert Arnold was laid to rest in the cemetery northwest of town to await the day when the graves shall give up their dead and loved ones shall once more meet each other and clasp glad hands around God's eternal throne.
