Alrech was the son of John and Maria (Wallis) Wohlken of Germany. He immigrated first to Honolulu Hawaii on the ship Ehrenfels from Bremen Germany, April 28, 1883 - stayed a short time - had to buy his way out of a Spreckles Sugar conract, then came to the U.S. in 1884 and landed in San Francisco. He owned a Bar at 548 9th. St., Corner of 9th. and Brannon, until his death. He loved horses and horse racing. He died at San Francisco Hospital.
