Johanna Verhovnik, 79, of 194 View Ave., Strabane, died Saturday, Mar. 3, 1984 in Canonsburg General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 15, 1905 in Strmca, Yugoslavia, a daughter of Andrej and Marija Sirca Podboy.

Mrs. Verhovnik had lived in Strabane most of her life, where she was a member of the SNPJ Lodge No. 138 and the Pensioners Club of Strabane. She was Catholic. On Nov. 26, 1922, she married John T. Verhovnik, who died Oct. 18, 1967.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. William (Johanna) Pavcic of Canonsburg and one son, John W. Verhovnik of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; two sisters, Frances Novak of Strabane and Ana Modoijan in Yugoslavia; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sisters, Maria and Justina.



Friends of Johanna Verhovnik of 194 View Ave., Strabane, who died Saturday, Mar. 3, 1984, were received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Joseph P. Salandra Funeral Home, 304 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 6, with the Rev. Raymond A. Cercone, pastor of St. Patrick Church, officiating. Interment in Oak Spring Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to the Canonsburg Hospital Building Fund or the VFW Post 191 Ambulance Association of Canonsburg.
