Kay (Palmer) Rizor, age 59, of Kalamazoo died May 9, 2007 at home surrounded by her family after a year-long battle with cancer. Kay was born March 10, 1948 in Battle
Creek the youngest of three children to Keith and Marguerite (Sanford) Palmer. Kay was a 1966 graduate of
Harper Creek High School and attended Kellogg Community College before accepting a job at WMU's Testing Services. She worked for over 22 years in the Kalamazoo Public Schools in a variety of administrative positions. Kay enjoyed tending to her extensive gardens and was a member of the Westwood Garden Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in a book club. She enjoyed traveling to places such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Italy and throughout the United States. She had a fun, outgoing personality and had many close, special friends. She loved being with family, especially her grandchildren. On June 17, 1967, she was united in marriage with Wayne Rizor, who survives. Other members of her family include two children: Wendy (Matt) Brush of Kalamazoo, and Steve (Kate) Rizor of Vicksburg; three grandchildren: Zach, Lauren, Ashley Brush of Kalamazoo; two brothers: Jerry (Kathy) Palmer of Kalamazoo, and Donald (Melinda) Palmer of Bradenton, FL; her father and
mother-in-law, Robert (Evolyn) Rizor of Battle Creek; and two sisters-in-law: Janice (Joe) Foss of Battle Creek and Sheila Scott of Rutherfordton, NC; several aunts and uncles and nephews.
