Funeral for Ola Gillespie Bennett, 85, of Moulton will be Friday, May 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daniel Gray and Bro. Marvin Gillespie officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bennett, who died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at her residence, was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Lawrence County to Houston D. Gillespie and Bessie Brooks Gillespie. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Independent Church of Jesus Christ. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed her family and friends, cooking and needlework. Her son, Thomas Keith Bennett; and grandson, Rickey Wade Bennett, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Lenard Bennett; one son, Richard Bennett (Gwen); two brothers, Eugene Gillespie (Marty) and Wiley Gillespie (Audrey); sister, Shirley Wooten (Ray); two grandchildren, Brooke Caldwell (Brian) and Mica Bennett; stepgrandchild, Ashley Bennett; and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Kierspen Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be Fred R. Gillespie, Winford Gillespie, Harry Gillespie, Mark Gillespie, Flint Gillespie and Joe Gillespie.
Honorary pallbearers will be cousins.
