Catherina was the daughter of Nathaniel NESBITT, Jr., and Veronica "Frenny" WITTMER. She was the sister of John, Ann, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Jacob, Mary, Peter, and Veronica "Fanny." Catharine was the third-born of the nine children.

She married Samuel GREIB on November 22, 1782. (NOTE that the name GREIB mutated to CRIPE for most descendants.)

Her first child (Nathaniel) was born in Washington County, Maryland; that child did not reach maturity. The family moved to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, where she birthed five more children: John, Samuel Jr., Jacob, Daniel, and Elizabeth. By 1802, the family had moved to Montgomery County, Ohio, where she birthed her last child: Catherine.

She and her husband moved on to the cornbelt of Indiana before 1830. They settled in the area around Rossville, Clinton Countyy Indiana. It's at the north end of Clinton County, with Carroll County just to the north. Consequently, family events fell on both sides of the county line.

Her children John, Samuel, Jacob, and Catherine also moved to Indiana. Two of her children (Daniel and Elizabeth) remained in Ohio.

GRAVESTONE NOTE: In about 1988, there was found what likely was Catharine's gravestone. It was on the ground. It was an old, small stone, darkened by the years. The name on the stone was Catherina Greib. No dates. Almost certainly that was her gravestone, because of the age of the stone and because of the spelling of both the first and last names.
